Why going back in time won't make you money on a sure bet.

So you got yourself a time machine and a copy of a Sports Almanac from 1950-2010 (in T&T it would be a Cricket Almanac but these days you don't need to bet on the West Indies, you KNOW what the outcome's going to be anyway. :)) But if you DO have an American football Almanac and you DID go back through time. . . lol not as sure as you'd think. Check out the info-graphic below.

The McFly Scheme: Time Travel Sports Betting

Now I have a counter idea. Why travel back to 1950? Just travel back a year to the previous season, bet and put the winnings in a bank account. If you do that 5-6 times going back 5 years and betting bigger amounts. You would have an account already open in the future with the winnings.

Hmmm something to think about?

Maybe the whole time paradox thing might come into play here. . .

My Absence

I'm sorry readers if you haven't heard from me in a while. The ol' arhritis and rheumatism is back with a vengence! :P Just a short note to say that I have been observing the hustings for the LGE and I have become VERY disgusted. 1. The UNC have put back the SAME people in their hardcore areas to run, this is turning off voters who were looking for meaningful change. Remember the guy I told you about in my last post? Well, he's running again. The COP had to FIGHT to get ANY seats in the LGE and the UNC STILL believes their canidates can win in certain areas of the country over a COP candidate. Haven't they learned that THAT doesn't work? I have never SEEN a LGE being fought as a GE but all the postings and press ads and news items are showing that the UNC intend on taking all the seats away from the PNM. Where I agree that in the case of the LGE the PNM losing ALL its seats is to be wished for, it does not provide fro good governance, for you see, we NEED the PNM. Just as light needs dark to shine, the PNM is needed to oppose the People's Partnership. However in the LGE situation, once your PNM councillor wins, will he be able to do the job effectively?

Not likely.

And lets not even START talking about the MASSIVE corruption that will happen on the LGE level AFTER this election. . .

2. WHY IS THIS MAN GOING UP?

COP, you've all gone insane. . . imagine if he WINS!?

Sigh. I'm going back into my hole for a while and see what happens next. However I DO still encourage you to go out and vote. In THIS case if you think the COUNCILLOR has done the work he or she was supposed to do for the last 15-20 years on the Local Government Level, then by all means. . . do what needs to be done. If not, STILL do what needs to be done, if you can, put someone else.

There may be a message. After.

Centering Your Breathing in Yoga

I hear a lot of people complaining about being "Pissed" I have been there, I am STILL there in a way, that's why I write this blog, so that I can journal some of my thoughts. Yes they can go very deep, but in the end we're not into being superficial, we want the answers. lol Well the FIRST thing I have learned while thinking is that to successfully think, you need to clear your mind. Sounds confusing? It isn't only with clarity of mind will you received that thought that once eluded you. Being calm and centered should be everyone's goal. Its not easy, but it should be tried!

How do I clear my mind? By centering my breathing. Now let me warn you, this isn't as easy as it sounds AND it takes practice. But let's make a start eh?
The process of centering one’s breath is called ‘Pranayam’ in Yoga. Pranayam is extremely powerful technique of ancient yoga. The concept behind this breathing exercise is quite simple. In the process of breathing exercise, one has to maintain a rhythm of breath. When the air moves in the body, it creates harmony. This harmony creates a healing effect, and therefore, it is very good for the body. . .
. . . When you perform initial exercises, you will notice the benefits in a day of two only. The first effect of centering of breath is that your mind will become very calm. When you practice the advanced techniques, you can never suffer from severe cough, cold and a lot of other diseases. So, the process of centering yoga is quite simple yet extremely powerful. Those who perform Pranayam on regular basis rarely fall ill.
Here's what you do:
  1. Sit with your back straight in a comfortable chair, NOT a lazy-boy or soft armchair. You can do this lying down BUT its better to do it sitting. If you lie down you WILL fall asleep, and if that's your goal, cool. :)
  2. Put your hands in your lap one hand in the other. Relax your shoulders.
  3. Place your feet firmly on the floor, flat and relaxed.
  4. Take a NORMAL breath and on the exhale breathe ALL the way out as much as you can. Then
  5. fill your lungs all the way up by breathing in normally but exhaling when you have filled your lungs.
  6. Do not PANT. Do not Breathe HARD. Just breathe normally. In and out, exhaling all the way, breathing IN all the way.
When you do this a couple of times start concentrating on your breathing. The exhale and the inhale is ALL you're going to be concerned about. Feel your chest rise and fall. Feel your feet's contact with the floor, your shoulders relaxing, your body relaxing as you concentrate on your breathing.

Do this for five minutes. (believe me it will not seem long after you do it a few times)

Now here's the HARD part. You have to stop thinking. You will discover that when you do this exercise you will notice ALL the thoughts running through your head, a cacophony of noise that you never actually LISTENED TO, but is there impacting on your brain. "DidIturnoffthestove.didIputthecatout.Mybackitches.Ishouldhavepaidthatbillbefore.whyisitsohot?hasfiveminuteselapesed?Iwanttolookatmywatch.Dumdeedumdeedummdaddada. . ." And so on. When you begin the excercise this is normal. The practice comes in IGNORING these thoughts and thinking only of the breathing.

But what happens next? When you stop thinking you start calming down. You start relaxing and your brain starts resting. 5 minutes of this every morning will help you deal with the day better.

Trust me.

Now stop thinking and go breathe! :)

Wow. This is interesting. And Slightly Disturbing. :P

Who says I gotta be talking politics all the time. And now for something thought provoking and different:

Think about that. Now think of where Trinidad sits in there. Look at number 18. Go figure.

The Magic Number 24

I am realising that the number 24 figured prominently for this entire campaign. Not withstanding that the political observers pointed out that Kamla won the internal election on the 24th of January and that the Election was called on the 24th and there were a bunch of other 24 numbers bandied about. But the FINAL count in this election kinda surprised even me. No it isn't 24. But as of today, the 25th, the count is 29-12!

My God. When I asked you guys to get registered and vote, I didn't think you would DESTROY the PNM. You mangled them. You handed them  their WORST defeat since 1986! You've made them so irrelevant to the politics that it will take some time for them to recover.

And recover they will. I predict, as I had said before, that Rowley will become the new Political Leader of the PNM, and that's NOT a bad thing. We NEED someone like Mr Rowley, wether you like it or not, to keep the opposition strong. I make no bones about this situation. This new Coalition Government has made a LOT of promises and they must keep ALL of them. Rowley will see to that.

My only problem with the results is that BOTH Marlene and Tattoo have remained behind to grace us with their unintelligent ways. But they can't do a thing. The Government has the majority and you know what THAT means! Yes folks. Constitutional Reform, AT LAST, and with Prakash Ramadhar and Winston Dookeran in the government, this will be done PROPERLY!

The swearing in ceremony is hours away as of this post.

I look forward to the next few weeks. Don't feel that since the PNM got booted out, I am going to rest. No Its time to face NEW challenges and to be honest its time to start thinking about Mr Warner, as we have said before, what's the price we paid for his help in getting the Coalition Elected?

I will be publishing the FINAL results when they become available.

Till then I would like to congratulate all our Representatives (even Jabba and Tattoo) for winning and especially to Mrs Persad-Bissesar, congrats to you Madame Prime Minster. Don't let us down.

We stand at the crossroads

If I have anything to say at this point is to say: PRAY. The fear in the country is VERY VERY prevalent and its fear from those who shouldn't be feeling fearful. Those that clamor for change are fearful that they are taking too big a risk. I say NUTS to that. There is ALWAYS risk. Hell there is risk crossing the fucking road these days. Decisions you make informed or not are only just that ,decisions. If you live by a code and believe that you have the power to see the change YOU want to see in the country in yourself, you would not hesitate. You will not think twice. You would not consider the consequences. The decision you make can only do two things and you cannot predict the future.

I for one welcome change. Change in myself. Do you know how hard it is to write this blog? When I started this blog I thought no one was going to read it. lol No one did, but then a funny thing happened. I wrote about Marlene being like Jabba the Hutt and all of a sudden every Tom, Dick and Harry started reading this thing! lol

BTW Who is Stacy Roopnarine? and WHY is her name in a Google search and why does MY blog come up when you search her name?

I digress.

So now I've been getting over 200 hits a day on this blog and suddenly I regarded this thing not so much as a risk anymore, but a duty. I HAD to keep writing. People needed to hear what I had to say, and THAT was encouraging. If I didn't take the decision to start writing, then my thoughts would have been wasted, for bad or for good SOMEBODY out there learned a few things, absorbed some new information, broadened their minds and started thinking for themselves.

I am glad. So when you go out tomorrow to vote. The results will be two ways, the way you want it and the way you DON'T want it, but in the end you made a decision and THAT cannot be taken away from you. You now have a power beyond reason, for you can stand up and say:
I did or didn't vote for this.
Whether its GOOD or BAD. I believe that we have a destiny, we do not know what it is, but it is there and one day, maybe at the end, we will suddenly realise, this is what I am here for! For those who like "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" The answer to the ultimate question is 42.

The question is "What number do u have?" In the line of life, you're just biding your time before the decision you make makes you more than you are.

Now stop thinking and go do.

There may be a message. . . after.

My first post

Here's where its gets interesting. What the hell am I writing about? Who would care? I think in the end no one really, but it gets it off my chest.

Firstly MOST of this blog would be political in nature. Speaking about the nonsense that's going in my pat of the world, my small corner.

The grammar may be bad and the spelling even worse, at times, but that's because we're all so fraking busy! So don't judge me on that.

Needless to say, if you DO read my posts. Thanks and please DO come back often (HEY that's what RSS feeds are for!)

I also have a fan page on Facebook and these posts will be going there as well. So lets begin
